The Mother of All Conspiracy Theories... Now come on guys, be serious. If we play our cards right, all those Muslims will worship a patch of New Mexico Desert, and not a Black Rock in Mecca. Problem solved.

Roswell is total bunk.
People believe bunk because they want to so much.
WE have enough of that with liberalism people!

1. Nine months later, Al Gore Jr. was born.
2. It's now 60 years later, not 50 years.

This is great stuff - we need mysteries and conundrums. Heck, there are nerds on earth who know everything - leave some hokey for mere mortals to squabble over.
It’s what the human race lives for...the unknown universe.

There is an excellent book on this by, of all things, an anthropologist who approached it "seriously," i.e., said "What if the story is true?" and researched it accordingly.
Saler Benson, "UFO Crash at Roswell," does a great job of showing how a) it was NOT a story until the 1970s---even the UFO kooks didn't really pay attention to it until more than 20 years after the fact; b) the story on the crash, then "crashes" evolved because the evidence never fit their theory.
Great read. http://www.amazon.com/UFO-CRASH-ROSWELL-SALER-BENSON/dp/1560987510/ref=sr_1_8/103-3295729-1019017?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1183672368&sr=1-8

And Al Gore was born seven months later. Coincidence? I think not.
To: mission9
We have proved that Al Gore (he invented the internet you know) is indeed an alien; how do we establish if he was the product of an alien breeding program(his/her/its embryo was rejected as unstable and placed in a human host) or was he a byproduct of a secret military-industrial complex government test manipulating the viability of the alien DNA/ human embryo???? Or is Al Gore just a natural loon unrelated to aliens and space radiation???

The late Mercury 7 astronaut Gordon Cooper (Dennis Quaid portrayed him in "The Right Stuff") wrote a fascinating autobiography called "Leap of Faith." Most of the book is about his life and adventures as a pilot and astronaut. Only a few pages in the book are devoted to his personal experiences with UFOs and UFO coverups, but those few pages are enough for me. You can stick to the ignorance that enables you your bliss and joyous derision -- it's too late for me. While I hope you're right that it's all the mere fantasies of "kooks," I'm pretty sure that hope would be in vain.
More to the point, I sure as HELL hope we never find out en masse in our lifetimes that Gordo and the folks you dismiss as "kooks" (that would include my husband and his son, along with a whole lotta other pretty credible, level-headed people) were telling the truth after all.
