We are still awaiting further details, but PWInsider.com is extremely saddened to report that former WWE and WCW World champion Chris Benoit and his wife, former WCW and ECW personality Nancy "Woman" Benoit were both found dead today in Atlanta, Georgia. Obviously this will be a huge developing story in the days to come but at this point, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to the Benoits' family, friends, and fans at this time.
A meeting is currently ongoing at WWE TV and it is expected that tonight's three hour Raw will now be dedicated to Benoit's memory.
6:09 Update: WWE.com issued the following statement this afternoon:
"WWE is sad to report that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family."
Sam Houston?
Yep.
Grizzly Smith (Aurelian Smith) has two sons and one daughter.
Aurelian Smith, Jr. (aka Jake Roberts)
Michael Smith (aka Sam Houston)
Robin Smith (aka Rockin’ Robin, former WWF Women’s champ)
Ah, so the Wikipedia thing was just a badly-timed hoax...guess that guy feels pretty weird now...
One of my fondest memories is of my wheelchair bound grandmother getting in a lather about the “rasslers” not being fair in the late 60s and 70’s (I remember Wahoo, Haystack, Ernie “The Big Cat” Ladd and others)
There were many times I thought she would get out of that chair and give them “what for” herself.
I am glad she cannot see what the business has become, and often long for those simpler times.
Last I heard a couple of years back, Nikla said he had been sentenced to a fairly long jail sentence.
I know what you’re saying. I’d like to say I’m shocked. But I’d be lying if I did.
And no it’s not hypocritical. Haven’t been in contact with the family I grew up with since the ‘80’s. We never pretended to be The Brady Bunch either.
I read somewhere he worked on Jeff Gordon’s crew in 2006.
I believe I heard this;
Fox News reported this morning; that Police have raided (?) Benoit’s doctor’s office 2 times since the murders.
With his problems that’s surprising. But maybe he’s cleaned up. Hope so.
Couldn’t get it right the first time or search warrant issue?
This was almost too brash of a statement to just say “heard it on the news”; one needs to provide a link.
But as to two times, who knows?? Fox said that.
Perhaps there is an outside chance of two different law enforcement agencies carrying out raids.
Story excerpt:
“Benoit’s Carrollton, Ga.-based physician, Phil Astin, told the Associated Press on Wednesday that he met with the World Wrestling Entertainment star last Friday and previously had prescribed him testosterone to boost levels of the hormone that were in decline probably caused by prior steroid use.
Less than 24 hours later, the Drug Enforcement Administration raided Astin’s office, focusing on whether Benoit’s medical records showed he was prescribed steroids, and if so, whether the prescription was necessary, a law enforcement source told the AP. A DEA spokesman said no arrests were made. Calls to Astin’s office went unanswered, and Fayette County Dist. Atty. Scott Ballard could not be reached for comment.”
Thanks Hitman for keeping us updated.
I read that Benoit’s doctor is being looked at concerning this other death in professional wrestling.

But, I also watched the Larry King show (seems like Freepers dig up the transcripts somewhere on the day after sometimes); and I am awaiting the toxocology reports.
May Nancy “Woman” Benoit rest in peace. I believe they said on the show, her funeral will now be July 14th, Saturday.
Missed Larry King but from some of the reports I think Astin has a mountain of problems.
Ted Dibiase was on the show and was introduced as now being an Evangelical. I had forgotten about him but seeing him and his name made me instantly remember having seen him grapple in the squared circle.
That aside, I don’t think there was anything really extraordinary about anything said on the show but I did catch the Midnight eastern time rebroadcast.
Ted has been running a Christian wrestling promotion for a while. (As well as Nikita Koloff)
Seems like everybody’s coming out to say something, which I guess is to be expected. But we’re never going to know for a fact what happened that weekend & all the things that led to it. Chris now appears to have been a deeply troubled man.
I did find it fascinating the other night on Hannity & Colmes when some female told KEVIN NASH that he had no credibility. The look on his face was priceless. He reminded her that he had used steroids himself & was actually in the wrestling business. But she seemed to have convinced herself that she knew more than him. I expect this type of thing to get worse before it gets better.
Tully Blanchard runs a prison ministry, and I believe he has a WWE Legends contract.
The family of Chris Benoit's wife is questioning whether she or her son died first at the hands of her husband nearly two months ago. The answer could determine who inherits millions of dollars from the pro wrestler's estate.
Authorities say Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, on June 22 and then killed their son, Daniel, the next day before taking his own life at their Fayetteville home.
If Nancy, who did not have a will, died first, then her estate would flow into Daniel's, said Cary Ichter, one of the two Atlanta-based attorneys for Benoit's father, Michael. That means Daniel's two half-siblings from Chris Benoit's previous marriage would stand to inherit Benoit's fortunes, which include two lavish homes, several bank accounts and lucrative investments, Ichter said.
But if Daniel died first, then the estate would have flowed to Nancy before her death. In that case, her family stands to reap the inheritance.

Georgia law stipulates that Chris Benoit is legally considered to have died first in the house. The intent of the "Slayer's Statute" is to make sure neither the killer nor his heirs profit from their crimes.
Benoit had two children, David and Megan, from a previous marriage to Martina Benoit. As Daniel Benoit's legal next of kin, they would be next in line for the inheritance.

Very interesting - thanks for posting. The slayer statute isn’t in place in all jurisdictions, but it’s a good thing it was in this one.
Just kinda bad for the older children, even though it would end up in their “favor” as heirs to Daniel.
Also, have their been any findings released in Bryan Adams’s/Crush’s death? I haven’t seen anything posted besides the initial story, but might have missed it.
The office will now conduct tissue and toxicology studies to try to determine what killed the 44-year-old Adams, who wasn't breathing when his wife found him unconscious in their Tampa home Monday morning. A completed autopsy report is expected in six to eight weeks.
Adams' body showed no visible signs of injury and foul play was not suspected, police said.
Thanks - I had seen that, but hoped maybe some of the tox results had been leaked. Appreciate your help!
