We are still awaiting further details, but PWInsider.com is extremely saddened to report that former WWE and WCW World champion Chris Benoit and his wife, former WCW and ECW personality Nancy "Woman" Benoit were both found dead today in Atlanta, Georgia. Obviously this will be a huge developing story in the days to come but at this point, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to the Benoits' family, friends, and fans at this time.
A meeting is currently ongoing at WWE TV and it is expected that tonight's three hour Raw will now be dedicated to Benoit's memory.
6:09 Update: WWE.com issued the following statement this afternoon:
"WWE is sad to report that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family."
I do not think that Congress/Govt. needs to be “investigating/controlling/regulating” music, enetertainment, sports, ect...
Makes more sense than the knee jerk “roid rage” copout.
Jake AND his brother.
I think I understand Jake’s dad was in wrestling, so though the obvious case of a break down is the Von Erich family, it appears some of the other families that have passed it on have faired better.
Rockin Robin and Sam Houston are sister and brother and half sister and brother to Jake the Snake I believe.
They are. Their father is Grizzly Smith.
The Von Erich’s. Nothing but tragedy & heartbreak there. They would have probably all been better off if Jack had just sold cars for a living.
Do facts matter to DUmmies? After I posted that, I looked on DU to see if I was correct. I was, as you can see here...

One thing is certain, he practiced no type of Christianity regardless of placing a bible with each. By their fruits you know those who do. People who practice religion pray. They find comfort in the cross of Christ when facing difficult or impossible situations. They view each and every life as sacred, no matter if the life fits their definition of "perfect."
He did not pick up his cross and follow Jesus in suffering through this life and all of its trial. One cannot even say that he had a background of Catholicism because it may have been that his parents were such in name only. Maybe he never knew about the Cross as the answer to suffering.
He knew in his heart what he did was wrong, but he did it anyway, and perhaps his laying scripture by the bodies was his way of trying to put his finger on something he only vaguely knew about.
I prayed for him and asked God to find mercy for him because I don't think he was completely evil and beyond redemption. There is nothing wrong with asking for mercy when the circumstances are so clouded. In fact, I believe it is better than wishing the man to burn in hell, but showing mercy and forgiveness seems to be an anomaly these days.
Monday's issue is done. It will be about the Benoit case. There will be a tremendous amount in there that I don't believe has been reported anywhere else. I believe that while in the end, there is no way to not be outraged at the situation, nor any valid excuse whatsoever, you will see what is a very complex, sad and horrifying story.
I live n Las Vegas, not far from Cali where Meltzer lives. I usually get the Monday issue on Friday (tomorrow) and am intrigued by the 'tremendous amount ' that hasn't been reported elsewhere. I'll try to distill it into some bullet points on this thread, if it is genuinely breaking info.
Wait and see.
Jerry Doyle discussed Vinnie Mac's appearance on the Today Show, noting the MSM's inept handling of the steroid connection. He was 100% right in his thoughts on the issue - the media just looking for an easy-to-absorb bogeyman in this case: steroids, and Vinnie Mac.
I honestly think it makes more sense to think that something (or a combination of stresses) triggered a kookout. Steroids don't cause people to kook out. Maybe a factor in a profile of stesses, but not causation.

Sounds like a warning from Dave to be prepared. Oh brother...bad bad feeling.
I can’t wait to get the issue, I’ll have to keep an eye out for my mailman and run down and get it, and hopefully it’s in Friday’s mail.
This story gets crazier every day. I too have a bad feeling about this week’s Observer and what’s inside. Ugh.
Please ping me.
Thanks,
I shall.
Just read an interesting analysis on who "S" is, especially if "C" is indeed Chavo. "S" could be former Smackdown star, just traded to Raw, Steve Regal.
It makes sense - they go back to the WCW days, he traveled with the Smackdown crew with Benoit up until his recent change in roster, and he is an "S," even though he uses the name "William Regal" on tv. Also, if you think back to RAW on Monday, Regal was probably the most measured of all the guys who spoke, leading me to believe that even at that time he had an idea there was something much more morbid about this situation than was publicly let on at the time.
Sources told The News he was sending the wrestlers biblical passages and sections of his will.
Just for Jake, and hear he still is out there (if one of his boa constrictors doesn’t get after him);
He’s big, He’s strong, http://www.keetologue.com/graphics/jakethesnake-tuttowrestling.jpg (dont’ really see it necessarily to post an image)
But he doesn’t look muscle bound, like a superhero; now a lot of these guys who do, may use steroids, I always thought Paul Orndorff mentioned here the other day, must have been into “body building”; I don’t know about him, but quite of these other guys just got too much.
Rick Ruud and Mr. Perfect; I don’t know.
I do see HitmanLV’s point, that maybe it is jumping to conclusions to think “steroids.” I had this reasoned out earlier but I’m rather tired now.
