They have not released the readar information. Either there was no radar ping confirming sighting or there was. But we do not know because . they have not released any info indicating one way or another.

I’d guestimate that numberous passengers had cellphones that could take pictures. Therefore pictures exist. Alternatively, the Captain is a big fat liar and a stupid one at that. The article states that the gov’t has yet to release info or findings on the matter. Perhaps then, such pictures are in their possession. Rampant speculation is on this subject is therefore warranted because it is enjoyable. That said, maybe there were no passengers.
