This was a Zot begging to happen.

But, for the record I think he was talking about this interaction as reported on an anti-Fox site. Goldberg said Coulter goes over the line and hurts her team although be basically agrees with her.

>>Bernie Goldberg Agrees With Coulter
Reported by Deborah - June 13, 2006

Bernie Goldberg visited The Factor tonight to plug the paperback edition of his hate spewing book,” 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America” Now, however, Goldberg has added 10 people to his list for the paperback but fortunately viewers were spared hearing about the new editions because the attention was focused on Goldberg’s opinion of Coulter’s recent rhetoric. 6/13/06

O’Reilly asked Goldberg to compare his book to Coulter’s since both bash Liberals. Goldberg said in a lot of ways he agrees with Coulter especially that Liberals make it a religion and “ look down their nose” at everyone. Then he added that Coulter “goes 22 miles over the line” and “I think she hurts her team” because she gives liberals an opening. He made it clear that he had no problem with her content.

O’Reilly wondered if he thought Coulter was mean? Goldberg said that was okay because Liberals are mean and “own the culture”. He claimed that unlike Coulter he attempts to be reasonable and cares about people liking him.

O’Reilly said he wasn’t sure if Coulter was angry with him because he has been critical but she was coming on later in the week even if “ I’m her 95th choice”. He explained that he had to call her on being “cruel” even though the other side does it all the time so he needs to be consistant and not take sides.

After that supreme rationalization, Goldberg came out with one that was much better by far. Claiming that people always ask why Ann Coulter isn’t in his book he proclaimed,
“ I’ve always said, she says it with a twinkle in her eye and frankly I agree with her.”

comment: Bernie Goldberg and Ann Coulter, a match made in heaven. <<

Bernie Goldberg Slams Ann Coulter

Longtime CBS News reporter Bernard Goldberg had a lot to say about Ann Coulter – some of it negative – during a radio interview promoting his book.

Goldberg’s “100 People Who Are Screwing Up America [and Al Franken is No. 37]” was published last year, and an updated version – upping the list to “110 People” – recently came out in paperback. The book takes to task Michael Moore, Ted Kennedy, David Duke, Michael Jackson, Jimmy Carter and an array of others on the American scene.

Goldberg now says he made a “mistake” in not including Coulter as one of the people “screwing up America.”

In a radio interview with David Goodman on 88.9 WERS-FM in Boston, Goldberg – now a correspondent with HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” – accused the conservative pundit of “crossing the line” by calling the so-called Jersey widows, who lost their husbands on 9/11, “the happiest widows in the world, or words to that effect.”
