From what I heard on Fox last night, the federal order to alleviate overcrowding in that particular detention system was aimed only at male inmates. Female barracks, apparently, are not overcrowded.

Hilton was housed in the "special needs" unit of the 13-year-old jail, separate from most of its 2,200 inmates. The unit contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates. She didn't have a cellmate

No mention of overcrowding. Again, recalling Fox last night, the sheriff is within his rights to overrule the judge and issue an order of early release/ house detention ONLY to alleviate overcrowding, and again--it is ONLY the men's barracks under the federal order. Anyone who thinks that this sheriff did the right thing needs to figure out what the hell we have judges for.

FCOL, Hilton could have hired a fleet of drivers to cart her bony ass around for the duration of her suspension. Us little folks don't have that option. She has absolutely no regard for the law.

So go ahead, all you nambypams! Rally for the freedom of Paris Hilton. Sit outside the jail and sing kumbaya. Maybe next time she goes on a tipsy travel she'll kill someone.
