A "screaming" Paris Hilton has been dragged off to serve her full 45 days in jail. Reportedly screamed and called to her mother as she was taken away. More.

You think the Sheriff's Department honcho would have let Rosie O'Donnell out early?

He** yes! Would you want to look at that everyday?!

Or Ted Kennedy. But then she'd need to keep scuba gear and an inflatable raft in the back of the car...

And a hammer to break windows. Good thing she didn't hire Corzines driver.

She's not looking at this creatively enough. So she sweats out the month and a half in jail and gets a gig as a commentator for NASCAR when she gets out. Or some skanky Bud Light commercial for Monday Night Football. Let her jump on a Couch on Oprah...If she can't figure this out she needs to hire a new agent and publicist.

Although it might be a good moment for resident expert Tom Cruise to jump in and warn her about psychotropics and psychiatry.

I don't think I would mind being locked up for a couple of weeks, as long as I had something good to read ,,,,and , as long as I didn't get this woman for a cellmate. If I got her for a cellmate I think I'D BE ON SUICIDE WATCH!LOL!

The LA County sherrif almost always sends folks doing under 90 days home...nothing unusual there....he claims severe overcrowding

He and Sauer have a battle going on over this and Hilton is the pawn now...

45 days is crazy for a minor misdemeanor...here in Tenn you can kill your husband and do less...if he made you wear tacky shoes to bed...lol

I wonder if Paris Hilton really understands all of this.

Her comments (thru this entire episode) seem to be that of someone who thinks herself to be not only special - but someone who is being “picked on”.

I hope you’re right about this being a successful learning lesson for her.

Right now, her mind-set seem to point in the other direction.

Yup. She was given a pass and signed a statement that she understood she wasn't to drive. And she drove again.

but regardless, I’m sure you have seen all the pundits from out there who claim no one gets 45 days for this...maybe weekends

Nope. But I've been reading FR and there seems to be some disagreement on that. It was posted that she COULD have gotten 90 days. She violated probation TWICE. They couldn't ignore the second time.

I have no sympathy for Paris Hilton. She sure loves herself, her huge home filled with photos of herself. She had the money to take a taxi or limo yet chose to put other people at risk.

While some have gotten lighter sentences, others have gotten harsher. Also, she got off easy initially but then chose to violate her probation, showed no remorse, and skipping community service among others. She was driving with her lights off. Lucky that nobody was killed.

What a difference comparing her reaction to that of Martha Stewart.

I have not seen one person who knows so far either here or on TV talk claim that someone driving on a suspended license in Kali ever gets the time she got. It was wrong for them to come get her and put her back in....in my view. Very wrong.

Let's see how many other times Sauer has done that when Baca lets them out early or often doesn't even process them before sending them home. The glee some here (not you necessarily) take from her misfortune and stupidity is telling. It's nothing more than good old human resentment. This girl is a fool's fool but hardly merits a month and a half in a stoney county lock up where she is definitely a target over this crap.

She should have been sentenced like evryone else from the getgo but Sauer knew the world was watching.

It's called REPEAT offender. You can't flout authority. She did.

I read somewhere today that the judge has to sign off on it. He didn't.

This girl is a fool's fool but hardly merits a month and a half in a stoney county lock up where she is definitely a target over this crap.

From Fox: Hilton was housed in the "special needs" unit of the 13-year-old jail, separate from most of its 2,200 inmates. The unit contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates. She didn't have a cellmate.

She should have been sentenced like everyone else from the getgo but Sauer knew the world was watching.

She was. She violated probation twice. How many times should she get a "pass"?

Also, it was claimed she was released for medical reasons. Then why couldn't they tell the judge what those reasons were?

Has Paris Killed The Women's Movement?

What’s up with the mystery illness that was so private that Paris’ lawyers didn’t bring documents to Judge Sauer and prove she needed to stay home?

Maybe I can help you here. One of my kids was picked up for driving on a suspended. Spent the night in jail. Suspended for not paying tickets. Paid the tickets and was cleared. Got picked up for driving while ability impaired. A lesser charge than DUI. His life changed and he and his wife stayed with us for awhile. I drove him to work. My car insurance found he was living here. Insurance went up to $8000 a year because of the DOSL and NOT the DWAI. The DOSL was considered more serious.

She violated probation twice.

that is not true...she never had a revocation hearing the first time. she claimed ignorance and the cops let her go with a warning....which probably contributed to her daffy thinking that no way could she get fairly serious pokey time for this.

as for her medical situation....if folks here think prison staff can mete out decent medical care then they have misplaced faith in such abilities of the state.

again...I ask to anyone....does Sauer always come get and re-incarcerate anyone who Baca lets go who he sentenced?

I doubt it. This is a guy applauded at his church for his heavy handedness with Hilton. I have seen lawyers and DAs on Greta and other legal shows say they have NEVER seen such a sentence for this.....even Mark Furhman....hardly someone soft on criminals.

I wonder how many here have ever been locked up? Folks act like county time is so much rose petals and good nosh

Do folks here think 45 days is fair for anyone driving on a suspended license?

What about if one forgets to pay a ticket and DMV suspends it and one drives anyhow? 45 days for that?

I think it's excessive.

Hilton has nothing to do with that opinion other than I think she's being picked on for being a rich brat who inherited 90 million's income in trust at 18 and will get her folks' income at their deaths. I don't fault her for that. I fault her for being bratty but that's not against the law. I'd like to leave my family that sort of wealth but I'm trying to raise them right in any event...something her Friends of Getty and Birken parents did not do obviously

I don’t think the issue is that she was simply driving with a suspended license, but that she wasn’t supposed to drive without a valid license as a condition of her probation (stemming from the original DUI, in which she plead guilty to reckless driving.)

I believe she violated the terms of probation more than once. After multiple probation violations, I don’t think it’s unusual for a judge to issue a 30-day sentence. So her 45-day sentence, reduced to 23 if everything went well, doens’t seem excessive to me.

Of course this wasn’t the crime of the century. But how many chances should a judge give a defendant who ignores the judge’s probation orders?

I wonder if we could find stats from the L.A. courts, and see what the average sentence has been lately for violation of probation. A probation violation for a traffic offense would probably have a shorter average sentence than something like a domestic violence violation. But it would be interesting to see if Paris’ sentence was typical.

I would not leave any weakling kid (under 30) of mine in a large urban lockup over night if I could help it.

I’m white, my kids are white. That is an acute disadvantage in county or city jails...especially down south....very bad things can happen very quickly and can never ever be made right again and the hacks won’t do squat to help...they may even instigate.

I am speaking from personal experience.

I still say 45 days is excessive and I have so far seen not one shred of evidence that such a sentence is handed out routinely in LA county by this judge for same infractions.

Btw...if the worst your kid did was driving on a suspended license then you must have done a great job.

Second offense for DUI here in TN within 2 years of first offense only carries 48 hours.

So Hilton gets 45 days for blowing .08 and then driving on bad license....that sums it up for me. I think it is way excessive and is compared to most jurisdictions and court practice.

My jail knowledge is not from drinking btw....I don’t like drinking or drunks..or irresponsible folks in general

OK, if he claims “overcrowding” then that is what he should have claimed. But he didn’t. He claimed medical concerns. Also, as I understand it, the overcrowding issue pertains to the men’s prison. Not the women’s. Regardless, there were very specific restrictions placed on her sentence.

It is abundantly clear that Baca has an agenda.

Again, people keep describing this as if this “minor misdemeanor” occurred in a vacuum. This was a “minor misdemeanor” after she had already been given a break on the initial charge and had 2 other parole violations. 45 days may be comparatively harsh, but it is well within the sentencing guidelines and hardly “crazy”.
