The Venetians don't dress like that. They are much more, ahem, the Italian equivalent of tweedy college professors. Very bland. Cruising around Venice in an Armani would mark you as as tourist as surely as shorts and a backpack.
What I resent there is the hefty fee to use the public facilities. If your hotel isn't handy, you have to fork over the Euros.
