NEAR SALEM, Ore. - Three Oregon school teachers have been arrested in a sex sting at a state park west of Salem.
One of the suspects has been identified as Harry Nelson, a teacher at Parrish Middle School in Salem.
Another teacher was identified as Ronald Bridge, who is an elementary school teacher at Sunset Primary School in West Linn.
Also arrested was Professor John Backus from Western Oregon University. Backus is also known as "Nick" Backus on campus.
Five other men were also arrested in the sting, but none were teachers.
I’ll say it again. There are some straight teachers that do things I don’t approve of either. Whether in their own homes or elsewhere. I did say that the fact it was in public was disturbing.

Well, you would have to define “aberrational”, because i doubt that there was anything too elaborate happening in the park.
Regarding males not wanting slutty women: the female virgin is widely regarded as a prize, the male virgin as an unlucky joke. There are two vastly different titles men and women earn from gaining sexual experience. Plus, there is a natural male revulsion at the thought that women might be carrying someone else’s child, that doesn’t translate when you’re dealing with gay men.

Maybe a generation or two ago, but I'm not so sure that nowadays it is. At least in the United States.
On the news last night they said one of the guys was listed as “Reverend” in the phone book.
Two or three of the eight were on sex offender’s lists.
The college teacher is back teaching, and one of the school teachers is still teaching I believe.
The other school teacher is “on leave”. They had some mom crying and saying what a great teacher he is, etc. Unbelievable.
Heifers, actually.

The name rang a bell with me immediately.
Way back in the day I had to take a speech class at Washburn univ. in Topeka, KS.
My Prof. was none other than some guy named DR. “Nick” Backus.
Flip-flop sandals.
Tie-dye shirt.
Earring.
I didn’t really mind, but the guy was a flaming lib.
(Now I understand the “flaming” part.)
Anyhow, this in way back in the fall of 1992, I think.
Dr. Backus (he always insisted we call him Dr.) was the most left wing, intolerant bastard you ever saw.
If you disagreed with his 20 minute political rant on the evils of George H.W. Bush and the need to elect Bill Clinton every M-W-F you were obviously a Fascist.
It was comical...We started every day with his 15-20 minute left wing tirade....
After several run ins and arguments with the guy other members of the department advised me to just drop the guy’s course.
As “Dr.” Nick would likely make my life miserable they said. “He’s an obnoxious lil Pr_ck” was the direct quote from the tenured old lady. So i dropped the course and took it again the next semester from another prof.
But the name Dr. Nick Backus, Speech and Communication has remained seared in my mind.
Apparently he left “intolerant and homophobic” Kansas and began teaching in Oregon.
So imagine my joy when I opened up Free Republic and saw his named listed as busted for public sodomy.
Paybacks a...well....Schadenfreude, I think the word is.....
