Can you describe the blossom, stopem?

Newsbee, I wonder if it was Cimicifuga-Brunette?

I have the Cimicifuga-Racemosa, the foliage is lacy, but otherwise resembles Peony in growth habit and stature.

Depending just how Deep in the Heart of Texas stopem is, it might be unfurling it's bloom.
