I hope somebody will correct me if I am oversimplifying this, but; the Vomit Comet is not a “zero gravity jet”. The plane flies a parabolic arc which results in the passengers falling at the same speed as the jet. The result is a feeling akin to weightlessness, but not actual weightlessness.

I beleive you are correct. Just like astronauts in orbit are not at zero gravity.
