here in America I have never seen a vestibule, just a machine flush to an outside wall
I live in iowa.
The older bank buildings put the ATMs in the vestibule for customer safety. You had to swipe your atm card at the entrance to buzz the door in order to get access to the ATM machine. It was an attempt at security for the customers.
But it didn’t take long for people to realize that you could use anything with a magnetic strip to buzz the door.
I’ve seen them. The Bank America on the corner of Strickland and Six Forks in Raleigh has the funniest ATM I have ever heard. It’s in a vestibule and it dings and clangs like a slot machine.
