Well, I'm happy to say that Hill's Science Diet has answered my fears. The only two products affected were Science Diet Feline Savory Cuts (can) and Prescription Diet Feline m/d (dry). Both were voluntarily recalled and are off the shelf. Also, Hill's has announced that the four products that contain rice protein (the most recent recall announcement) have been tested and found free of melamine contaminant, and are from sources of rice protein other than that which was found to be contaminated.
I do this as a part-time job in retirement. I'm not writing to push Science Diet; only to state that, thus far, I've found Hill's to be a real stand-up company.
Sorry but I have to say something about Science Diet. SD dry food caused diabetes in 2 of my cats (and hundreds more if you go to the feline diabetes forums). I have had several vets outright say SD dry is not a good nutritional food for cats.
Cats are obligate carnivores, they do not eat rice or wheat or veggies. When was the last time you saw a zoo feed the lions or tigers carrots or rice?
That’s good to know. I supplement my fragile kitty with syringe feeding a/d mixed with w/d. I think the w/d has corn gluten, so I’ve been watching it closely.
good to hear, my pups eat their dry dog food.
