You don’t go through customs at your departure. They went through customs in Florida, then departed for KY.

That is not my comment - that’s only part of a quote from another post...and someone else also pointed out the correct customs procedure(s).

Anyone who travels internationally probably understands that security clearance is POD(point of departure) and customs is POE (point of entry).

The main concern was a stopover in Ft. Lauderdale - might be an international hub or HK$’ destination. Moot point now.

I think I was one the one who first posted that. I did so because the reporter from MSNBC said that the authorities did give them the option for some reason, to go through customs in the Bahamas and they choose to do it in the states. Special treatment? Perhaps, or the reporter just didn’t know what she was talking about.
