Although Virgie’s actions were not ‘popular’ with the public and media, I never thought she was doing it for money. First of all, as ANS’s mother, she could have been making (and taking) money off her daughter for years, but she didn’t. Even estranged, she could have sold pictures of ANS (and Daniel, for that matter) and could have written a TELL ALL book about Anna, but she didn’t. I believe that MOST people her age have experienced enough of life to be able to view ‘money’ with perspective. In this case, Virgie probably has more perspective that most people, because she has ‘lived it’ and has ‘seen the consequences of it’ as ANS’s mother. The good thing about life (especially a long life) is that it teaches MOST of us to put things in perspective. The longer you live, the more you realize what is truly important in life, like love, family, good friends, good health, good food, good times, etc. You also realize that money cannot buy those things. I just feel inclined to believe Virgie knows this, and her aim is NOT TO PROFIT OFF HER DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON’S DEATHS. I believe her aim is to ‘impart’ the good things in life to her granddaughter, Dannielynn (with the highest hopes that she does not lose her way, like ANS did).
That is just my ‘gut feeling’ about Virgie’s actions. If I am wrong, I will be very sad and will be more than willing to admit it. I believe she does feel guilt about many of the things Anna may have gone through growing up, and for not always being there for her in her formative years (because she was working or whatever). I believe she thinks she failed Anna (as a parent) and wants more than anything to SUCCEED at being a GRANDMOTHER and a positive part of Dannielynn’s life. I also believe that she does not want custody of Dannielynn (regardless of what John O’Quinn says), and she wants co-guardianship or co-trustee status, ONLY to protect Dannielynn (not for her own financial gain). Think about this: Virgie didn’t insinuate herself into Anna’s financial affairs, even when Virgie was taking care of Daniel. I have seen no evidence that Virgie ever ‘tried to be Anna’s manager’ or told Anna ‘she would invest some money for her’, or anything of that nature. I realize that when ANS was with J. Howard Marshall, HIS PEOPLE (financial advisors, lawyers, etc.) took care of the money, but as her mother, Virgie could have easily offered ‘to invest some money for her to put back for Daniel’ or something like that, and I have just never heard or read anything of that nature. The only thing I have read is that Anna let her aunt and family either live in one of her houses or the ranch, but nothing about Virgie.
I hope Dannielynn is tested for drugs. By this time, however, they might be out of her system.
