My thoughts....I don’t think he was able to make the change on the BC any sooner. I think that when he asked for permission to leave the country, it was only then that the court gave him ‘temporary’ custody of DL and with that, he was able to go ahead and change the BC. Otherwise, I believe he would have had to wait until final custody decision was made.

There are several posts here about what happened in the public hearing Friday, but I haven’t seen anyone post about what the reporter from MSNBC said, and I don’t know how to look it up because the clip they have on MSNBC is not the first report that came after the hearing. IIRC she said that, as it stands, it is the Bahamian government that has custody of DL, not HKS and that the “court ordered the name of Smith’s last companion, Howard K Stern, removed, and the girl’s last name changed to Birkhead.”
