I’ll cut him some slack for the stresses and roller-coaster ride he has been on for 15 months (pregnancy, birth,two deaths, funeral hearings, paternity hearings, custody hearings, media frenzy and lawyer fees).

Because he wants get DL and himself away from HK$ ASAP he doesn’t want to upset the bastit. OTOH, he wants establish parameters with Virgie for their future relationship.
That’s all I can surmise.
On the LB and HKS relationship.
The potential scenarios are that:
1) LB is just doing what is necessary to get his daughter and that includes being nice to HKS. Once he has custody he will distance himself and let his attorneys handle things.
2) HKS has convinced LB that an alliance would be to his advantage because HKS is very familiar with the ANS empire and could keep it running. HKS may have offered his services at a greatly reduced rate (he has done this in the past to get his foot in the door with others). HKS would have pointed out that he has freely given up his attempt to keep the baby but that Virgie would NEVER give up and is his true enemy.
3) HKS is blackmailing LB. He has incriminating evidence of either drug use or homosexuality and has threatened to use it if he doesn’t give him what he wants. HKS would only do this if he had nothing to lose and LB kicked him entirely to the curb.
