“”””Because he chose academics, and chose to teach his specialty, neurology, he only makes around $70,000 a year. She said he and his wife are struggling, so she helps them out.””””

$70k? How much does his wife make? Struggling or living beyond their means? Paying student loans?

Choice should include the ability to do the math!

I think she’s around the same age, and yes, I guess they’re paying student loans. She’s a nurse. They wanted to have children but had no luck. After going through a few years of the fertility testing and whatever, which can be quite expensive, they found out she had cancer of the uterus, so she had a hyterectomy last year at the age of 29. I still am surprised that, as a PhD and an MD, he makes that much. I guess all the $$$$ some doctors make comes with office visits and even more with surgery.
