Oh, I VERY MUCH meant DL. A woman who can’t even get off drugs for the duration of the pregnancy is not mom material, in my estimation. I don’t think for one moment she ever cared for DL. It doesn’t take the report of a quack to convince me one way or the other. But that fact is, that even pathological liars insert grains of truth if it is to their advantage.

Yeah, she had a lot of psychiatric problems. But all of them were compounded by her drug intake. She was also grasping, and that had nothing to do with psychiatric problems. It is a fact that when someone is using drugs they have psyhcopathic traits; and before then, I imagine they wer no picnic.

All told, she wasn’t a victim of her psyche or anyone. She was a user and manipulator. Should we cut her slack like some wiseguy who killed his parents and then threw himself on the mercy of the court because he was an orphan?

As far as I”m concerned, ANS, HKS, KE and LB were carved from the same stone. And btw, I am sure we can make victims of Howard and KE and Larry while we’re at it. I don’t think Anna is so very different from them- except for being a woman.

Fluffy, I follow your line of thought regarding psychopaths. However, I totally disagree with you about ANS. Sure, drug addicts have psychopathic traits in active addiction. Sure, she couldn’t seem to free herself from her drugs. But what is the purpose of those drugs? To kill pain. She must have had a conscience under it all.

Sure she lived a sloppy life, like a lot of mentally unstable people. She used people for her own pleasure and dropped them when they crossed her. And she sued people and got sued. I don’t know all the facts of these cases. I do know one thing...HKS was at her side during that time. And it was Anna who saved his ass when she put herself on TV in a sorry mess for all to see.

But I’ve also heard many people who knew her well describe her as very sweet and down to earth. To name a few, her hairdresser in Studio City, the nannies who took care of her in the Bahamas, and some of the various friends who got to know her at the end of her life. She had a loving, kind side to her personality. She liked to wait on her friends, and no doubt Daniel. And finally, for all the horrible stuff she exposed Daniel to, he appeared to be a pretty nice kid who loved his mom. Granted, she may have gotten furious at him and not talked to him after he moved out of her house. How abnormal is that? She tried to reconnect with him and also Virgie after she was isolated in the Bahamas. Howard would hang up on them.

Anna Nicole Smith was a girl who, like Marilyn Monroe, had a kittenish underside that made you want to root for her. Marilyn was lucky to live under the studio system that watched out for its stars. Hef tried to help her; he is a nice man who tries to look after her girls. However, both Marilyn and Anna got involved with nefarious types who destroyed their lives. Both may have been murdered or both inadvertently commmitted suicide while being extremely confused and depressed. It doesn’t help these childlike women to be surrounded by psychopaths. Anna could have gone either way as she grew older; she obviously had rotten judgement about people and her bad character traits grew stronger than her good. She wanted money, fame, no pain, sex, and to be admired. It was her undoing.

If she didn’t bond with her newborn, I don’t see the evidence in that last happy photo. To me, she looks radiantly happy with the three people in her life she wholly loves. It’s not fair to judge whether she bonded with that baby or not because she was coping with the most painful thing any of us could imagine, the shocking premature death of her beloved Daniel right there while being held in his arms. After that, I was sure she would be destabilized and suicidal. Perhaps HKS kept her drugged to keep her from committing suicide; she was his meal ticket. It’s possible to me that he unintentionally killed her. I’m not excusing him, just wondering if he simply lost control?
