I didn’t realize JR ran a dictatorship. So much for screaming for free speech. It’s one thing to prevent trolls, another to prevent expressing a view of someone who truly has been a contributor quite a while.
This is a shame. Those Freepathons will get less and less if you keep running off regulars. Or if people are afraid to express their opinion, even if it isn’t what JR wants or likes.
Where did you find a list of those who have been banned, suspended or resigned from FR? I have been trying to read as much of that thread to find out, but it is so long. I hate Howlin, Peach, and PhiKapMom are gone...I enjoyed reading their posts. I’m relatively new - just over a year - and I have not had any unpleasant comments from any of them. Hopefully, this will get worked out, and some apologies will be forthcoming. From what little I have read (over a 1,000 posts from over 13,000), Jim Robinson allowed some freepers to remain on the forum who were really egging this spat on, and their posts, along with JR’s, were not in keeping with what I understood was expected of Freepers!

Apparently there is a list of Freepers who can be viscious and ugly without any comment from anyone and others who can be perceived as a troll (for one ‘bad’ post even though they have been posting for years with no trouble) I had a friend who was banned and tried to explain a misunderstood post and never got a response from JR. It made me hesitant to get an ID and actually start posting.
Not good. But this board belongs to Jim Robinson and he can do whatever he feels he needs to do -

Yes, Dictator Jim apparently. (can you tell I’m ticked off Howlin got banned. Howlin has been here for years) The thing is, this a BUSINESS for Jim. It will eventually hit him in his pocketbook.
There are lots more examples for sure, but those are two with pictures and/or sound that are accessible to everyone. Curiosity is not required. They were repeated over and over in magazines, the internet and on television.
Those who are curious have learned about the deplorable conditions in which ANS was ‘allowed’ to die and have seen reports of the drugging of the baby. We’ve heard about some of this, but God only knows what remains hidden.
HKS supporters would have to fall into two categories, ignorant or evil.

I have intentionally avoided the candidate threads, but spent a couple of hours tonight looking through the thread that seems to have initiated the bans/resignations. I skipped around, mostly in the last third of the thread. My fingertips have been bitten bloody to keep my thoughts to myself.
To avoid bringing the rancor to our thread of comparative calm, I will not mention any names.
At post #9266 I found what now appears to be an incomplete list of names of the departed. Posts #13908 and #14005 (without references made to specific individuals) describe well my feelings on the subject. The use of some of the names of those no longer able to respond as ‘poster children’ for all things wrong at FR is deplorable.
FWI, you are right about whose house we’re in. If requested not to smoke, I would extinguish my cigarette. But if my purse was searched and my smoking materials discarded, I would not be a happy camper.
Speaking of speculating, lol, it’s stuck in my craw that HKS said he would never leave the Bahamas...and now we find out he’s travelling with LB. I just wonder if HKS ‘agreed’ to allowing Larry’s bringing DL back to the states, as long as it was under HKS’s supervision, and THAT’s why he’s stuck like glue to LB...I guess we’ll see, if he stays stuck the entire time.

I have used this thread as a refuge from primary politics with brief excursions to Iraq war funding threads or Pelosi/Reid offense threads.
As I said earlier, I just ventured in for a couple of hours (reading only) to try to get ‘the big picture’. What seems to have begun as a weighing of Rudy’s conservative credibility, or lack of it, escalated into all out combat for some and collateral losses for others.
‘Plays well with others’ will NOT be noted on some of the report cards.
