The Bald Truth has learned South Carolina developer G. Ben Thompson has snubbed the Bahamian Supreme Court yet again, skipping his third hearing in a row in the Horizons contempt case that could put him behind bars if convicted.
But the contempt case against him went on, with the judge hearing evidence he allegedly violated a court injunction protecting the right of Anna Nicole Smith to live undisturbed in the house Thompson claimed he owned, until the title fight was settled in court.
His attorney, Godfrey Pro Pinder, no longer allowed to represent Thompson because he’s a defendant as well, showed up to defend himself, in a lawsuit that charges they both violated court injunctions protecting Smith’s right to live in Horizons.
In court Wednsday, a Bahamian maid testified Thompson son-in-law Ford Shelley took Smith’s computers, dvds and other items from the house the day after she died. Shelley was acting on behalf of Thompson, according to the lawsuit, but he has claimed the dead celebrity instructed him to keep her personal items safe if anything happened to her.
Shortly afterwards, the contents were splashed all over the news, from FOX, to local papers.
Larry Birkhead told me Shelley has yet to return everything he took from the house, and burglary charges, filed by Howard K. Stern, hang like a cloud over Shelley, unresolved in the Bahamas.
Regarding Horizons, Thompson dropped his legal challenge –and title fight for the house, which now belongs to Dannielynn’s estate, but has since sued executor Howard K. Stern and the estate for damages.
Pinder told me the hearing was continued to Sept. 26, but he doubts Thompson will show up for that as well, and will continue to be tried in absentia. The judge has ruled the case will go on, with or without, Anna Nicole’s ex boyfriend.
Thompson attacked Stern in the recent Rita Cosby book, as a walking pharmacist. But Blond Ambition, the book, did not report, as we did here, that Thompson’s name was on at least one of Smith’s prescriptions for pain medicine in the Bahamas.
For all WE know, it might be viagara for Thompson.

Larry Birkhead, former boyfriend of the late Anna Nicole Smith and father to her baby girl, Dannielynn, has certainly learned a lot of business skills from Anna’s former lawyer and alleged paramour Howard K Stern. And now Larry is teaching Howard a few things about a much more important topic: hair care.
During Dannielynn’s first birthday party in Louisville, Ken., Larry introduced Howard to his stylist, Gregg Giannillo, who counts a number of celebs as clients. Shortly after the introduction, Gregg made sure the former foes were ready for their closeup!
“The one thing that Larry cares about more than fame and fortune is his hair,” a source tells OK!.

Like many young actors dreaming of stardom, Craig Lamar Traylor hired a personal manager when he was just 10 years old. After seven years, one successful television series (”Malcolm in the Middle”) and a potentially precedent-setting lawsuit filed by the manager, Sharyn Berg, Traylor now faces a court order to pay $528,570 in unpaid fees. This, despite Berg’s management contract with Traylor having never been approved by a court, leaving it possibly voidable at Traylor’s discretion.
The case, Traylor vs. Berg, which the California Court of Appeals will decide in the spring, stands as a cautionary tale for attorneys negotiating entertainment deals for minors and an interesting window into the laws enacted to protect child actors, as well as their employers and representatives.
The Coogan Act
First enacted in 1939 and located in California Family Code §§6750-6753, the Coogan Act requires that a minor’s employer set aside 15% of gross earnings in a trust or bank account. A Coogan Account provides no tax benefits, like those associated with the Uniform Gift to Minors Act. “It exists solely for protection,” says Dreier Stein & Kahan’s Karen Dillon, who is familiar with Coogan compliance.
According to Paul Peterson, a former child star who now runs A Minor Consideration, an advocacy group for children in the entertainment industry, child actors in California set aside more than $100 million in inflation-adjusted dollars in only the Coogan Act’s first five years. In today’s climate, with minor actors in high demand for film and television — and such stars as Dakota Fanning and Haley Joel Osment earning millions per job — that number likely is higher.
At least one of the child’s parents or a legal guardian must be appointed trustee of the Coogan Account, but the court may appoint a different individual if it finds doing so would be in the child’s best interests. This trustee must establish the Coogan Account within seven days after the minor signs the employment agreement (most big banks in California have departments specifically designed to handle this task). Unless the California Superior Court grants an order to do so, no funds may be withdrawn from the account until the minor turns 18.
Only one Coogan Account is required per child, even if multiple employment contracts provide funds. An account is required even if the minor resides in another state or another country but performs work in California, or if the employer is incorporated or has its principal place of business in California and the minor’s work is performed outside of California.

The May 2005 decision by the Food and Drug Administration effectively blocked donors from Denmark to the United Kingdom. And while some sperm banks have had enough frozen stocks to cope with demand, they are now facing shortages.
“We still have a little bit left, but not much,” said Claus Rodgaard, manager of Cryos International, a Danish-based sperm bank with an office in New York.
“We’re not here to promote people to have blond, blue-eyed babies, but if those are the kinds of characteristics you’re looking for, then Danish sperm is good for that,” Rodgaard said. “That’s all we have in Denmark.”
