Anyone just see House? PRO LIFE

Posted on 04/03/2007 7:44:25 PM PDT by Dave Burns

Very Pro Life.

A pregnant woman's unborn baby is literally killing her. The father btw, is a gay neurologist who provided artificial insemination.
So, this woman's life is in danger. Either the doctors terminate the pregnancy and save her life, or both mother and 21 week old unborn baby were going to die. But she refuses to terminate and insists on saving her child.
23 weeks is considered viable for an unborn child, the unborn child needs at the very least two more weeks. But the mother has only two days until this pregnancy will cause her liver to shut down.

Given her insistence, The only other option is an extremely risky surgery (to both mother and child) on the unborn baby while still attached via umbilical cord to the mother.
It's their only shot to save the woman if she insists on saving the baby.
The surgery is performed
She actually goes into cardiac arrest during this, and there's a few moments where they are about to cut the umbilical cord in attempt to save her. But on a third attempt at resuscitation, they are able to revive the mother without doing harm to the child.

After the surgery the woman is able to continue with the pregnancy.

Throughout this time House has refused to call the unborn child "a baby," and insists on using the term "fetus." But as he performs the surgery, there is a moment where the unborn child reaches up and touches House's finger. After that he calls it "a baby"

Little Samuel Armas is now a tumbling, effervescent little boy whose spine was closed during that surgery. SB has affected his legs to some extent, but all in all his surgery gave him a big headstart in life. BTW, the fingers grasping was a reflex that, far from dehumanizing little Sammy, showed his little brain was functioning in connection with his body.

It is an amazing picture & I was really glad to see the House show do the episode the way they did. I had seen the earlier episode where Dr. House counseled the rape victim to get an abortion & that bothered me a bit. It’s good they showed the other side.

It sounds to me that the ep wasn’t written so much to make a pro-life statement but to have a very unique character moment for House.

Wow!

That would of course be a FOX program. It’s a good show and I’m happy to hear the story had a positive outcome.

I guess we now need to await for the liberal outcry that demands the production of a show that performs an abortion for whatever the case may be. Is it a stretch to imagine the following liberal complaint:

“How dare you air a show that favors Pro-Life. We demand an abortion! We demand an abortion! We will not be silenced until you perform an abortion during prime time.”

Don't feel alone---I made the same mistake as you reading denydenydeny's posting at first.

On second reading, and connecting to the earlier post, I was stll confused.

Only now, did I follow the reference(s) to a discussion forum.

http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=3152675&st=60 and have finally figured out denydenydeny's point.

And its a good point he makes.

May you never need a blood transfusion or other life-saving medical assistance involving sacrifice from someone you’ve never met.

What gets me is that he was far more right about abortion being the correct answer in this case. I'm no doctor but it certainly seems that the chances of the surgery actually working and not killing both the baby and the mother were very very slim.

Still a very good episode of the show. I loved how quickly House fell back into character with "I just remembered I forgot to Tivo Alien."

I really like House... I don’t like his view on abortion. But it’s just a TV program... spewing the liberal line. Nice to see in this show he called it a baby... and not just a tissue mass.

I was quoting other people’s comments from another site. Learn to read.

I’m so glad I gave up my TV in ‘93.... how much garbage does one allow into one’s home in the hopes of a few pseudo-righteous moments to appear from the world??

Fathers.... what are your wife and children exposed to over the years as a result of this TV of yours?? You will answer..... and not to me......
