My late wife and I used to vacation in Gatlinburg in the summers and just loved it. W. Tennessee in more like the area I was raised in, S. Arkansas. Though Memphis Soul can't be beat.
Ex stationed at NAS Memphis for a tour, me and the boys considered it still our "home" for many years even after leaving. But we loved vacationing north of Nashville every year. Never spent much time in east, but I would have loved to!
