No doubt there are abuses of the system out there. I've run across a few. Thankfully, not in my area. There are some counties where "when in doubt, remove the child" is SOP. Here the system is driven mostly by fear of lawsuits. There are also investigators and caseworkers who get drunk on the power of their position...and unfortunately, they often work under supervisors who are the same way. There is tremendous variance from place to place. I would never make it in an area where these kinds of practices are commonplace.
