wrong,
Your son is a US citizen right? He flew home. He would not be allowed into the United States if he were a Swede without a round trip ticket to go back home to Sweden. All foreigners entering the US have to have a round trip ticket, otherwise they would be not allowed here. Come on ... think about it!!! Why are people complaining about illegal aliens all the time?
People who have outstayed their visas or have undocumented entry.

If the legal stay in the Bahamas without residency is 8 months than he would have had to have a roundtrip ticket with the latest return date as May 8th, 2007.

The original statement was that "ALL FOREIGN FLIGHTS HAD TO BE ROUND TRIP." This, I believe, was not in reference to foreigners travelling one-way to the US (illegal aliens), but was in reference to US citizens travelling abroad, specifically, it was in reference to a ticket having been purchased, one way, for Daniel to the Bahamas.

If the country of destination has restrictions on the number of months a visitor without residency can stay, a one-way ticket to that country CAN be purchased, and then a return ticket can be purchased later, prior to that restricted date. I referenced my son, who purchased a one-way ticket to Sweden and later, returned on a one-way ticket.

If there is an 8 month restriction in the Bahamas for non-residents, it is still possible that a one-way ticket could have been purchased for Daniel to the Bahamas, with a one-way return ticket purchased at a later date.

So, in answer to the question, the ticket does not have to be 'round-trip'. On Lynx Air International, an adult ticket, one-way, to the Bahamas from Ft. Lauderdale is $133.30.
