Speaking of gals that look like guys, did anybody happen to see the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on TV?
I tuned in in the middle of a Patty Smith song. I didn't know who Patty Smith was so i didn't know it was her. Talk about a girl who looks like a dude! She sounded like a guy when she sang. She looked like a guy. I mean no make up. Messy hair. A mans suit with a tie. No discernible boobs. When she finished singing, she spoke, and then i realized this must be Patty Smith. Whoa!
re: Patty Smith...I knew who she was, but looked her up a while back when the nominations first came out...her hippyish, no makup, stringy haired, 'dirty', I'm a woman, therefore grooming is not required attitude and looks, reminded me much of the same in Janice Joplin...record execs today would never sign on these women. While they may have been 'icons', they would have been rejected by today's music industry.
I didn't see the show, but you reminded me of Gilda Radner's SNL version of Patty Smith. Radner is the standard by which I measure funny women.
