The medical examiner said the fever was caused by a needle piercing the abcess in her buttocks, which allowed the infection to get into her blood. The Cipro(antibiotic) cleared up the infection.

Sure. That probably caused the fever too. But that doesn't preclude that she was being detoxed which probably would've exacerbated the situation.
