They just showed a clip from Letters , etc. and a glimpse of The Clint.
I must say I bitterly resent that movie. (I told you I'm mean), but I'm not ready to glorify the Japanese yet... maybe in a hundred years if they behave.
My husband worked with a WWII prisoner of war and he said the Japanese were unbelievably cruel, but added they treated their own people almost as bad as they did the prisoners.
Did you see it? It doesn't whitewash their fanaticism or cruelty at all.
I had an uncle that survived Bataan. I won't be watching the movie. I have a real hard time with war movies anyway.
I don't blame you for that....I feel the same way...a friend of mine's dad was in the So Pacific during WW11 and survived being a POW...he met his wife an Army nurse recovering from his imprisonment...he lost a leg due to their torture....
I saw Flags of Our Fathers this week. I didn't think it was all that good.
I agree. Just read "Ghost Soldiers" by Hampton Sides to get an idea how cruel the Japanese were.
