I think (as a ME) he is very competent...I just think that social skills (read media savvy) just isn't there.

Dr. Wecht (to me, and I have seen/heard him alot) always seems like he is trying really, really hard to make 'the little people' listening understand the complexities of what he is stating. I think it just takes a different type of personality to do that kind of work.
