Orotracheal and naseotracheal intubation are just fancy ways of saying that someone has diffulty keeping their airway open and air flowing, so a tub is inserted in the throat or nasal passage to keep it open. If she fell unconscious it's very common to intubate in order to keep her from suffocating, or to ready her for ventilation equipment to help keep air flowing.
