Greta appears (on air) to have developed a friendship with Moe. What if she talked to him at length off the air and some things came out and she suggested he call the police and tell the entire story?

Excellent theory. Definitely a possibility.

I've thought for awhile that Greta is suspicious of Stern. We may learn that she had no input on this, but I'll not be surprised if she did. I mean, she had a burr under her saddle about several things in regard to Stern. And Greta is like a bulldog that sinks its teeth into something and won't let go.
