Do we know where Cyril Wecht gets his info that drugs are likely not involved at all? Could Dr. Perper be using him for help? Dr. Perper must understand that Wecht is not an objective party in this anymore since he's done Daniels autopsy. Wecht's professional integrity is at stake here. He has a "dog in this race" and that is to show that Anna didn't die from homicide or drugs. Because otherwise his Daniel autopsy may look like a coverup for hire or at the very least sloppy and wrong. I think many of us believe there is a link between Daniels death and ANS's death.

Hey - #15,313 - I heard Cyril Wecht speak - I think night before last - on with NG, I think, and that Dr. Baden, the other expert they have on occasionally in the case.

I don't remember exactly the words said - but the impression was that Dr. Baden kept talking about how the toxicology reports could detect drugs if they were present and could tell this and that. And they also talked about the DNA test, how easy that was to prove paternity, etc.

Then Wecht comes on and basically skims over the DNA matter, and then says he thinks we will all be surprised by the final toxicology results - because remember Anna had had a high fever right before this death. Remember Wecht tried to say there was some heart problem with Daniel's death - but he had to say that problem might have been caused by the drugs interaction - but he said also it might be inherited.

In other words he was insinuating that natural causes will be shown to be the reason for Anna NIcole's death.

He is one of the "paid staff" who owes some of his income to Anna's and Stern's pay. I put zero stock in his opinions because they are aimed to get attention OFF of the uncomfortable truths around the causes of both these deaths, IMHO.

I don't think so.... as I recall it was posted here a week or so ago that there is a little bad blood between those two from when Perper was in PA.

Apologies in advance, but I didn't follow this during Daniel's death investigation. Was it ever said he took drugs at all? What was the cause of death?

Good evening, reading up again to the final post, but I had to stop at yours. First, I would strongly doubt that Perper would farm out any work Wecht's way. Perper is the ME of Broward County, and Wecht does 'private' autopsy (for municipalities that don't have a coroner, ME, insurance matters, or private clients--like ANS--to get answers to an unexplained death.) Wecht and Perper have bad blood going back to when Wecht was coroner of Allegheny County (Pittsburgh, PA). Perper was hired by Wecht as a toxicologist (so this ANS autopsy should be right up his professional alley). Wecht had billing issues, and was sued by the (I believe by Allegheny County). Perper testified against Wecht. Perper then became the Coroner after Wecht's term was up (elected postion) and then Perper lost the job back to Wecht again (confusing, huh?)

Anyways, Wecht has said that the cocktail of drugs, together--not individually, found in Daniel Smith's system could have been the cause of death, or could have triggered a genetic heart anonomoly (that he could have inherited from ANS). I remember hearing him (maybe on local coverage here--he is on almost daily for something) that because both ANS and Daniel were young and healthy no cardiac work up would have been done (EKG) to see if there was a genetic heart defect...and that there would be no way to definitively say if the heart 'defect' was the ultimate cause of death (or words to that effect).

And, lastly, and this is just my hunch (as Wecht was on TV again today for an possible suicide/murder here in PA). I doubt that he would fall on a sword for the $80,000 (I think that what I saw the his professional fee was worth) HK$ paid him (or still owes him) and falsify Daniel's autopsy. Again, I think he does an awful lot of third party (insurance) claims and his credibility would be of too great a value for him to protect one client.
