Anna Nicole Smith collapsed in her hotel room at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and was rushed to a hospital on Thursday. A Hollywood, Fla., fire department spokesman told MSNBC TV that the actress was unresponsive when the rescue unit arrived on the scene.
Sources confirmed to Access Hollywood that Smith was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital shortly after 2 p.m. EST on Thursday. Access Hollywood also is reporting that Smith was intubated at the scene.
Officials told the Miami Herald, "it does not look good."

The scandal was local. Wecht had been the Coroner for Allegheny County (Pittsburgh). There was a question of his using County facilities to do private lab work (out of jurisdiction autopsies that Wecht investigates as an expert witness). There was alot of background political infighting (Wecht in a Democrat--his son is now a County Judge). Apparently Wecht had more enemies than friends in high places. He is no longer Coroner (now we have a Medical Examiner Office instead).

Access Hollywood is saying that the nurse pulled back the sheet and she had vomited and choked.......she had taken a children's sedative........whatever that is!

EXPLOSIVE NEW CLAIM: SMITH CHOKED ON HER OWN VOMIT
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (February 8, 2007) -- According to a credible source, an employee of Anna Nicole Smith found her in her room in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The employee pulled back a sheet and discovered that she appeared to have choked on her own vomit.
The same source claims that Smith took what was referred to as a "children's sedative," and had "kept passing out" before her death.
AccessHollywood.com has learned from this same source that one of the attending physicians at Memorial Regional Hospital was Dr. Randy Katz. When we contacted Dr. Katz, he acknowledged that he was indeed an attending physician, but Dr. Katz would not comment on any specifics related to his care of Smith.
