I was just reading about AR on Wikipedia. I did not know that when they get to the ticket agent they initially buy tickets for 4 (them + 2 audio/visual crew) and then the scene is re-shot showing them ordering tickets for only 2.

What if reality shows were really real and we, the audience could handle it. What if we just could accept that the teams are traveling with a crew and that is why we see them buying extra tickets and making room for them in taxis, on buses, planes, etc. Would that be so hard to handle or would it upset our imagination so much as to ruin the reality shows?

Only one video/sound crew permitted per flight, due to airline restrictions. And apparently, it's quite interesting how different airlines treat it. Some require signed releases from anyone in the shot (and are thus not 'favored' airlines for the show.)

But yeah, the video guy gets the front seat of the taxi, the sound guy on the passenger rear, and between all their rigging, the racers get to have a slot where one should be sitting. It's why a lot of racers prefer to take vans when they can, and 'share' the ride, because again, it's only one video/sound crew that travels in such situations, and you can sometimes get away from annoying crew.

It's also interesting how many racers abide by the full contract and don't get into production details. I'd have screamed bloody murder during the family edition - time and time again, crew blew electronic systems, drained batteries, and apparently, acted like slobs. (good union film crews..)
