Splitter Not Mandatory Teams will not need to replace the front splitter if it is broken off during a "car of tomorrow" race, NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Director John Darby said Thursday. Darby said he expect teams will want to have a front splitter - a shelf that sits underneath the front valence to adjust front downforce - on the car, but it won't be a requirement. Speaking of splitters and ONE reason someone needs to get DEI on track.....

Jr.."We actually, I was scared to death at the test knowing that the Car of Tomorrow (CoT) wasn't going so good for us. I bought a pull-down plate for my Busch team and DEI doesn't have one so they've been over there using the pull-down plate and learning a lot of things. We went back and tested the other day and it was really, really good. So that whole deal has improved 60-70 % as far as my outlook on the CoT so I'm feeling a lot better about this year."
