Regarding the two imprisoned border agents:

The President is reviewing their case, and isn't going to be stampeded into a pardon simply because Rohrbacher and a bunch of radio talk show hosts are complaining. There are resons to look at this case carefully, inclduing the fact that the agents KNOWINGLY concealed evidence of the shooting. I will defer to the President on this one.

Regarding Huckabee: I have to go with Iowa Granny on this one. Even though I have quit smoking and am dieting to lose the weight I gained when I quit, I do NOT want cigarette taxes raised. The habit is hard to break and for some of the lower income groups, smoking is the only relaxation they can afford. If you raise the taxes we will have even more shoplifting and armed robbery, plus black market smoking. Plus, I just think it is mean-spirited.

I want no part of people who try to tell me how to lead my life by passing laws. Pretty soon they will be rationing sugar and fats, mandating daily exercise, and sending the health police around to question our kids. No thanks.

Huckabee's conversion to a healthy life-style is commendable, but I think the way to get people to change is by exhortation and example, NOT by taxes!

I didn't know the guards tried to hide the shooting of the drug smuggler.

SMOKING.......AHHHH the first puff with a morning cup of coffee. That was a long time ago. I learned one cannot run every morning and smoke, and I loved running early in the morning when everything was quiet and the air was morning fresh. People tell how hard it is to quit, I had no trouble, but I did keep a pack in the freezer, just in case. My roommate finally asked me to throw it away, she was not a smoker and claimed she could smell the tobacco when she opened the freezer.

I resent all of the do-gooders who went after the tobacco companies "for the children" for as much money as they could, to be put aside for the education depts in the states, yet our teachers are still underpaid, some schools are in disrepair, kids are "unsafe" in school, so where is all the money taken from the tobacco companies???? In the general funds! If these do-gooders had given the same energy and tv, newspaper, magazine ads to illegal drugs as the have to a legitimate company, maybe something could have been done to slow down the use of illegal drugs. So instead of our kids being taken to the principals office for smoking in the bathrooms, the DEA is called in 'cause some kid is "shooting up" in the hallway.

Miss M I think I heard that some of the fast food dispnsers are now getting away from trans-fats. How dare a group of pseudo scientists tell us what we HAVE to eat?? Remember when eggs were going to kill us all, next week, because of the colesteral in the yolk? Well I for one never went along with that because GOD put more lesithen in the white. So now, after that food "scare" eggs are ok. Beam me up!
