How harsh is the penalty for carrying a hand gun illegally? I'm sure it isn't that harsh.

It CAN be harsh--but--ask yourself--when was the last time you were patted down? In practice, it probably isn't a big deal. I've carried when I've needed to legally or not. I have a CCP but it is not any good in my home state of Illinois. It is always about who is doing the what that matters and their level of discretion.

I get patted down everytime I go to a concert, which is often.

Right--but you expect to get patted down in that situation.

You're entering a controlled environment. At a commercial venue like that they are probably looking for alcohol, drugs, and electronics as well.

I wasn't saying you should try to carry at concerts or in court or anywhere for that matter.

I wasn't advising anyone to do anything.

You are permitting that search--I've been to events like that as well. I'm in my thirties and (I'm showing my age)--I don't like being in crowd situations like that anymore.
I don't fly anymore either.

I'm thinking of people that work late shifts with very few other employees. Remoteness may not even be a factor. In big crime ridden cities the thieves don't care about remote. In such situations it might be worth the risk to carry illegally.

I would agree. Better still, get out of Dodge. And the service economy (if you can).
