Long ago, the defense put in a motion asking for a "bill of particulars" which would have required Nifong to do just that. Nifong made some nasty remark about the three needing to account for themselves for about two hours one night and it was too bad if they couldn't do that. The motion was denied but the judge left open the option to refile it.

You are correct, and NC is the only state I have ever heard of in which somebody is charged with a crime and the date, time, location, etc., are not specified in the charging to the greatest extent they can be known to the prosecution. It's absolutely unconscionable.
