24 has never happened in real time. The show has always taken place "in the future". The timespan between every season has always been about 18 months to 3 years.

The boat ride probably took at least a week. I keep waiting for them to show him stuck in traffic for an hour.

Way too expensive an episode to kill everyone on the ship, then sink it, then get rescued by a zillionaire yacht owner and his beautiful Asian wife only to immediately save them form Malaysian pirates who have killed the yacht owner before Jack annihilates them and beds the wife in Singapore.
