I would hardly call Jeff Rense a "leftist moonbat" as his political positions are at odds with the left. He has people on his program who could hardly be considered on the left. People who cover the UFO topic are not necessarily leftist. Rense was once called the right wing version of Art Bell. The current Coast to Coast Am program with George Noory also covers these types of topics.
Who are you trying to fool? Have you ever been to rense.com? Here are some of his headlines there today, apparently you support this kind of filth from that slimeball:

Jeff Rense is a supporter of the Minute Man Project defending America's borders / he is a a supporter of traditional / conservative values & is a frequent critic of big government & imperialism in general.
Rense often has Jan Lamprecht -a former Rhodesian current South African with strong anti-communist sentiments who runs African Crisis.org revealing the truth that the left covers up- on his program. This alone is enough to make his program an important & valuable bulwark against the communist propaganda of the South African press. Lamprecht btw also posts here on Free Republic from time to time as well.
The fact that Rense often covers controversial topics & taboo subjects should not deter from the fact that he has been instrumental in breaking the one dimensional leftist control of the mainstream media. Just about nowhere else in the media do they cover the escalating farm attacks & killings in South Africa in which the President Stanton of Genocide Watch has publicly called a genocide under the Genocide Convention.
Rense has been instrumental in lifting the veil of this embargoed information & data. I am simply not aware of any other Western program which covers the plight of South Africa as much Rense aside from the shortwave radio program the Right Perspective with Frank & John.
Listen to the podcasts of the program especially the important & informative Hello Afrika segment at the Right Perpective Podcast. blog.
The only thing which might be perceived as a leftist trait on Rense.com is its anti Mammonistic approach which can mistakenly be perceived as an anti Capitalistic slant.
With such a current Globalist & Left wing stranglehold on the mainstream media - those of us on the Right should not be attacking those who are attempting to break it up.
Both Free Republic & Rense.com often post similar stories. Once in a while Rense.com even links to Free Republic.com. Remember: they both independently carried the important 45 Declared Goals of the Communist Takeover of America.
While his site does indeed post & cover a plethora of often outlandish postulations: I am of the opinion that we should not throw the baby out with the bath water.
The late Mercury 7 astronaut Gordon Cooper would disagree with you, and did in print in his autobiography "Leap of Faith." Only a very small part of the book is about his brushes with UFOs and systematic government denial of reports and being a black hole for evidence such as photos, but it's enough to make one sit up and take notice. Or should be, anyway, for those who can handle the truth.
For those who can't, knee-jerk denial, derision, or condescension (as in, "It was Venus and the dumb witnesses didn't know any better") is the only option.
"he would rush to tell everyone about it right away"
Maybe, but when I saw something in the sky like this, I told my wife and a close friend but it was really hard because I didn't want them to think I was wacko or be made fun of. Five of us saw it. We didn't go out and tell everyone because it sounded too weird.
While it is true that the mind can add details to a memory to change reality of the memory, that doesn't disprove all eye witness accounts of events.
It is not what we know. I know it to be fact. USAF and Air National Guard pilots have pursued UFOs, and have filed reports which are never made public, nor can they be made public through Freedom of Information Act applications. I am acquainted personally with an incident in which the Vermont Air National Guard was scrambled to intercept a UFO which had passed over Burlington International Airport. There would have been no scramble if the USAF's true position was that the UFO did not exist, or was a weather related phenomenon. The pilot later talked about it, before he was brought up short, and later had nothing to say at all about it.
The military's position on UFOs is that they have never encoutered a UFO. All such incidents are explainable by alternate means.
So why is the military insisting that the phenomenon does NOT exist? Simple. They do not want ordinary civilians involved in examining the phenomenon, and as to why that is , there are many, many theories and explanations.
