Well, the vet's now been and gone... report is that Bay's looking very good, though it's funny... I lunged him on the line and he said "well I'd certainly pass him on any pre-purchase exam". And then he loosened up even more till the vet said "How old his he again?" Of course, Bay did sortof make a fool of me when I turned him loose to free lunge... I wanted the vet to see how much more spring Bay had when he was loose on his circle... Bay went around twice and took off for the far corner of the pasture. Heh. "Really, he'll usually just lunge loose!" Honey went and got him for me... the horse is fine. A brat, but fine :~)

He got shots, and pony got shots, but Cyn won the "worst teeth" award. Bay wasn't bad, didn't really need doing. Cyn was done last year but she was already bad again, with big hooks and sores in her mouth. So she's got a bad bite, she doesn't wear evenly.

Here she is... The vet's given the sedative, and she's one sheet to the wind...

... another minute... she's all three sheets. ;~)

It looks like she's pulling back... she isn't... she's just wobbling badly on her feet... a couple times, I thought she was going down.

Finishing up with a hand rasp...

And then the other side....

Here's what the inside of her mouth looks like... he's about half done, and he wanted to show me the sores on the inside of her cheek... Reminds me of the indent sores I'd get on my lip playing trumpet in braces. The couple in the back are actually bleeding.

So Cyn needs to be done every year, it seems, while Bay's tooth growth is actually slowing down.

Pony's are getting sharp too, but she can wait till we do Bay.

Wow, very cute vet:), love his hair!

Great pictures of the floating procedure, especially the one looking in her mouth. Horses are so funny when they’re tranked up:) Did your vet say anything about doing her teeth more often since they got so bad so quick? Have you noticed her dropping feed? She sure hasn’t lost any weight, so she must still chew it good.

Glad to hear Bay is doing so well, altho I knew he would pass muster.

Becky

Great pics, Hair! I don't know how Cyn stayed up, she looks like you could have just pushed her over with a feather.

Forgot to tell everyone that I went and rode Levi last night, and will ride him once more on Friday before the clinic on Saturday. I have a whole entourage from the barn going. One of the ladies from the barn is riding with me so that Levi will have a friend and chill out a little bit. Yesterday's ride was pretty good once I relaxed and enjoyed myself. The good thing about him is that he's really easy to handle for the most part, but we did have two close calls.

He's big enough for the aisle to be a little to narrow for him, and as I turned him around, his butt brushed an empty shavings bag that was standing up. He did an immediate cheek clench, let out a big snort and an eye roll to me, then the bag then to me, and you could see that he was going back and forth between "Want to spook! But must not tromple small human! What to do?" He also did a gorgeous piaffe while impatiently waiting for me to get his stall door open, and made so much noise that people came running from everywhere because they thought that I was in a lot of trouble with him.

I’ll say it aain - you’ve got a nice looking vet :) The inside of a horse’s mouth is gross.

Great pics of the teeth floating. I haven’t had the vet out to do that to any of mine in a long time so I’m sure that it needs doing.

And that was funny about Bay running off on you, but you can’t really blame him. After all, the Doc was there and that usually means shots and all manner of uncomfortable poking and prodding. I’d’ve run too! ;o)
