Pony’s okay I think... he sedated her (had to sedate her to even take her temp so she wasn’t feeling too bad) banimined her, tubed her with both mineral oil and water, and now she’s in a temp corral in the front yard nibbling a little grass.
Whew! That’s good to hear! We can’t go losing our SaddleClub Pony Mascot.
So what was she doing this morning that alerted you that she was having a problem?
So glad to hear it. You know when horses are where you see them all the time, I think you can catch these things and get them stopped before they get real bad.
So what happened, what did she do, any idea what caused it?
The ride was fine, could have been better, but we did OK. You know the more I think about it the more I’m thinking part of the problem now that he is use to the sponge is Harley has never really liked standing still in water. Today it seemed he was more anxious about getting out of the water then he was scared of the sponge. I threw the sponge in 3 times and pulled it back in and sponged him off. I really don’t think that was the problem as much as he just wanted out of the water. But we ended it pretty good. Next time I’m going to take him in the water and see how well he will stand before throwing the sponge. I didn’t give him much of chance to do that before I started with the sponge.
When it’s really hot and he’s hot,he’ll stand there some, but thinking back I think he’s always got antsy standing around in the water.
I’m not going to worry about having him ready with this trick for this ride. I don’t want to rush it, but I will be working on it once this is over till we both get comforatable with it. Thanks for all the encouragment with it, I’ll keep you updated with our progress.
