She's gotten really weak just laying in the hospital, but she's gotten better, so we hope to get her into re-hab in the next day or so. She'll stay there for 3 weeks or so and then if she's able, we hope to convince her to go into an assisted living facility. If not, I'll have to hire round-the-clock sitters for her, and at $7500 a month, that's just not feasible for more than a year or two. She's not wanting to hear about any of this, and neither would I if I were in her shoes, but her doctor has called Social Services and they're going to make SURE she does SOMETHING.
I really don't want her to have to go into a nursing home, but that's what would have to happen if we use up all her money on sitters, so I really hope that she starts to listen to reason about the assisted living. I've looked at one that would be close to where I work and it was nice, but it looked more like living in a big hotel room so I'm going to look at some others that may be more home-like. So just keep us in your prayers that we find a solution that we can all live with.
Fair enough.... will do. My grandmother ended up afraid to be alone, afraid she would fall, and she really ended up liking the assisted living place she had for the social aspect as well as security, that someone would be there to help if needed.
Hope you find something she’ll want to do.
Hey Frog, I’m scanning through some of the earlier posts and saw the one about our mom. I’m so sorry ya’ll are having a rough time. An assisted living center would be ideal for her, I bet.
