Heat lamps hung overhead sound safer to me than those big jet engine type deals, but I'm a little phobic about that kind of stuff!
Yeah, I don't know that I'd wanna leave one of those running unattended, but they're great for spot heating when you're working though. Seems like a friend of mine hung some of those tubular shaped quartz heaters overhead, parallel to the ground, in her wash room in the barn and said that they did real well.
We hang heat lamps over the foaling stalls but they aren't going to touch the cold we're having right now. We've got two large ones hung over the rabbits in the garage and it's barely 30 degrees under them when I checked this morning.
