The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Hey - those are really neat pictures.... what a neat local park! Thanks for sharing, you should go someplace interesting for lunch every day!

It’s raining here (!) and the highlight of my day has been watching the horses fight over a bag of stale potato chips I thought I was throwing out for the crows.

Happy late birthday. I’ve got an early BD present if I want it. A company I do some part time work called me. They want to know if I will go to New York City for a week to 6 weeks? Silly me. I said “New York Texas”? Travel, hotel expenses paid and 235 a day expenses. I’m about a 75% No but, I’ve never been there.

It was an odd noise to hear in the dark with no clues.

HMMMMMMMMM

Don't I wish!

Apparently horses can't eat just one either. ;o)

A week I might could handle. 6 weeks would drive me crazy, unless they agreed to fly me home every weekend, and even then it would be questionable. I've never been there either. I'm a Country Mouse. I would probably be paranoid as hell the whole time I was there that somebody was going to mug me.

Yeah, I could only do a week. Things start hopping here after that. It’s such a long ways and I would be by myself and I’ve heard the stories too.:’) Besides that, I think it gets dark before supper doesn’t it? I wouldn’t be able to see much.

New York is a neat place. You’d be up closer to me. I’m only three hours away from NYC. I’d say go for it. What do you have to lose? If it’s around christmas time, that’s a fun time to go because of times square and the huge christmas tree. I went and saw the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. I have some pictures around here somewhere when I went around christmas time. I’ll have to post them. I wouldn’t want to live there, but it would be fun to go back.

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes. :-) It was a good one!

I called about the saddle, it's a chocolate brown cutback and 17". She also has a crosby all purpose for sale, but I think I'm going to have to go down and take a look. Apparently the lady is moving to Kentucky (lucky dog) and just wants to liquidate. She has a hand tooled western saddle with silver for sale too. I don't know anyone who would want it. She says that the keiffer was too narrow for her horse, an appendix QH, so it's probably going to be too narrow for a warmblood, but Levi isn't as broad as you'd think.

I need to go to Washington in Oct. My mom might go with me. I thought about touristing NY. I think I’m going to pass on this. It’s too soon , too long, and too far from home. Sigh..it sounded exciting though.

Hi, welcome to the forum rockyridge - you'll enjoy it here :)

Beaker - don't tell hubby about the western show saddle, he really wants one badly.

Frog - I loved the pictures, finally able to see them. You all need to hold on the guy making that possible. What a great thing to do.

Cindy, man I'm glad you're not going to NY. Not that I've ever been but I imagine all sorts of danger there for someone not armed and a black belt.

Hair, thanks for the ping :)
