The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

You have more vehicle trouble than any person I know. I can’t believe Gary forgot to put gas in the truck. It’s a good thing you turned around and headed back down the mountain when you did or else you’d have been riding horses back to the gas station to borrow a can of gas. You’re just going to have to start checking everything before you leave. Aggravating I know, but better than being stranded on the side of the road.

Heh, they had a smaller one that actually was sitting on a sign that said “Go away!”

Tomorrow morning is dentist day:(...I’ll probably not be here most of the day tomorrow. I’m thinking having two jaw teeth pulled at one time, might be a bit of a downer, that’s going to be two pretty good size holes in my mouth.

No, I don’t watch that show, sorry.

Hey, those are really cool...well the lion is anyway, I’m not sure about that other thing. Kind of looks like the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz:)

You really ought to stop sometime. They’ve got some really nice stuff if you’re ever in the market for concrete pots and stuff. They had quite a few lifesized dogs, but no setters. I asked. I figured Sheila would want one if they did.

I have a life size setter on my front porch. Will have to take a picture of it. Got it at a concrete place down by Priceville. They have since gone out of business.

Tomorrow morning is dentist day

Good luck! A guy I work with just had two molars removed with no problem, he was even back to work the next day with pain meds, but still at work. You will do fine.

You know, you've got a point there. I never even thought about that. Good eye! I did think that the big Lion looked like the one from the movie Narnia. I can't remember his name.

Well, I don’t envy you the dentist, but if it’s got to be done, it’s got to be done. Hope it’s not too painful for ya.

Whew... well, I’ve got the carpets shampooed. They look better, the place smells good... I’ve got the couch de-haired, now I just have to try to keep it this way a few days :~)

Now I have to mow, and it’s gonna be hot. Good for fat burn, hopefully. I’ll keep thinking of it that way.

MAN Hair, you’ve really been working! Don’t get too hot and worn out. You don’t want to get so pooped that you can’t enjoy your company. Have you ever decided what all you’re going to do with them? How’s their friend whose husband died out of the country? Are they home yet?

I’m going to really push it today and then recover tomorrow :~)

They arrive Thursday :~)

Well, we’ll take them to the volcano one day, that’s our best feature :~) We’ll take them to the beach house one day, other than that we’ve thought about potential ferry boat rides, a potential trip to the ocean, a potential nature walk... a few things. They didn’t seem eager to go to Seattle to do the city thing and that’s just FINE with me :~)

Oh and the friend who died was brought back, the service was last week. We didn’t go. Just not real good timing with ecurbh’s new job and needing time off anyway for this visit. It’s OK... he was a deacon in the church, I’m sure there were so many people there Karen wasn’t lacking people around her.

His parents will be going up to spend a couple-few days up there with her.

This one looks like something out of Mordor doesn't it?

Well, I’m glad they got him back ok. The logistics of that alone must be a nightmare. And I’m sure you’re right about all the people at the service. She was probably almost overwhelmed with the outpouring of sympathy. The real impact of his death probably won’t really hit her until all that kind of settles down. Then she’ll likely appreciate some company.

I got that pic from here. It's the Arenal volcano in Costa Rica. Looks like a cool place.
