This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Wow! That’s cool Duchess! Those silhouettes like that really look life like when viewed from a long way off. I remember when you posted it before that I thought it was a 3-D sculpture.
Man, that’s a really cool one too! I love the full size view looking back down on the river. That view is totally awesome!
Cool!
That part of WA is very different from this side of the mountains. It’s very much high desert there... tumbleweeds and all. ;~)
If you can get here, I’d be happy to show you all the parts you want to see :~D
Thanks :) The metal silhouettes are about the only thing that will stand up to the wind and weather extremes here.
I looked at the wild horses and it seems that they are made of wood - that wouldn't work here, they'd sail to Utah. I don't see why the wild horse people couldn't do it in metal though, concreted into the ground.
Thanks, I may have to take you up on that invite one of these days.
I hope this works.
Well, it did not link the story I wanted but you can scroll down and click on the horse or zebra story.
You have GOT to find a local pony club and get Pony under a small rider. She's fancy looking enough to clean up in the hunter shows, I wouldn't be surprised if she could do "B" or even "A" locals.
I agree she has great potential. I’d love to find that kind of opportunity for her. She’d be a ball to watch.
How would one go about finding if there IS a local pony club?
Well, there is a local pony club that I sent an email to a couple years ago... a description of the pony and some pictures, indicating that I thought she was talented but a little fractious and was interested in either a careful sale or a free lease to the right person.
I never heard anything back... they don’t know me from Adam, and I don’t think they knew what to do with such an email. I don’t travel in those circles, so I don’t know who to contact.
We've got some mean little girls at our barn in whom Pony might meet her match . . . . too bad we're at the other end of the country.
Better yet, show up at a Pony Club function.
They probably get a million Emails . . . .
Thanks - that baby then is worth her weight in gold so to speak. What an incredibly rare and pretty horse.
