You don’t have turtles??? Wow, we always had one in a cage thru the summer’s when I was a kid. I was thinking this morning I might hang on to the one that doesn’t seem to mind being in the crate. At least till the new wears off with the boys. They like to get them out and watch them move around.

The race is funny. They put all the turtles in a pile and cover them with a tub. there is a big circle chalked on the road all around the pile of turtles. Then the tub is raised and the first turtle to go out of the chalk circle wins....You have to find one that comes out and starts moving quick. Some of them just sit in their shells and never come out.

You find more turtles in the spring then in the fall, but it is possible we may see one while you are here. Hard to say, that’s why several weeks before the festival we start catching them so we are sure to have some. You never know. With all this rain we are seeing them pretty frequently, I guess their homes are being flooded. I’ve always heard if you see turtles moving up hill look for rain, they are moving to higher ground, they know when it’s going to rain. If they are moving down hill, you’re in for a dry spell:)...LOL...that may be an old wives tale tho.

Those turtles are cool. We saw a big snapping turtle on our ride Friday. He was laying in a 4-wheeler rut filled with water. We gave him a wide berth. Lugar was getting close, but I don't think he noticed it.

Wow, Green Corn Festival already. Time sure does fly. I love small town events like that.

On the trail class, they walked over a bridge, then logs, a box of logs to turn around in. Walked into a "L", backed out, sidepassed over another log. Trotted through 2 logs, turned, then a gate. For the little kids there was not a rope to open, so they did a pretend, but still had to go through, as though there was on. Amy didn't place in trail. PJ hit the logs in the turn around. Her class was a lot bigger than Alison's.

LOL...about the cats being sharp pointy things:)...poor puppy:)

I’m sure those turtles are different species, their shells are different. But I don’t know a thing about them, they are all just box turtles to me:)

No - we don’t have many reptiles. Garter snakes and a rare little lizard. I’m trying to think... I think that’s it. It’s too cold, or too wet, not sure.

We don’t even have turtles in Eastern WA where it’s dry. They do have a few more kinds of snakes though, including rattlers.

Hey, look at that post number:)

I have a lot to do but I just can’t seem to get moving this morning.

Me too....this is the first time in forever that I've had to make a second pot of coffee.

Oh wow...I thought those kinds of things were just everywhere. When I was a kid besides turtles we use to catch horny toads all the time too, but I haven’t seen one of those since I was a kid. They use to be everywhere. I’v heard they are going extinct around here. They made a good caged lizard to feed insects too:).

Yeah, I ended a week of carb binging yesterday and purging. I just can’t handle that stuff. As soon as the motrin kicks in, I have to get busy.

I think my problem is just a lack of sunshine....now that it is shining, I need to get out there and soak some up:) But Sun. is grocery shopping day, and I’m afraid by the time I get back it will either be too humid to stand being outside, or raining:)

Shopping on the weekend is torture for me. I like people but I don’t like shopping around people:’) I do need to go though. I’m out of fruit and my milk just expired. .

That’s why we usually go pretty early in the morning, to miss the crowds. Mack is working this morning, and I really need to get going here...It’s usually pretty calm to go anytime before noon, before church lets out it’s not bad, so I still have time:)

I usually have to do my shopping on the weekends because of work. There’s a grocery store down the street from me in Boston, and usually what I’ll do is pick up stuff for lunch and keep it in the kitchen at work. I’m terrible about getting errands done on the weekends. The barn takes first priority and then i do the errands afterwards. I do a little bit of house work every day during the week so I don’t have to do it on the weekends.

Thanks Beaker:)

Rocky has been so funny since I started putting him out back to graze. He'll move around back there grazing quietly for about 2 hours. Then, for the last 3 days, he just has himself a good ole time, running, bucking, kicking, charging the gate...today I got some pictures. They aren't the best because there are so many trees out there, and I couldn't zoom because he was moving around so much, but I think you all will enjoy them. Hope it's not too many:)

Slinging his head around:)

He looks like he's feeling good!

We've gotten a good bit of rain today. I keep looking to see if the grass looks greener yet :~)

Went for a walk out there during a sun break, but plenty of very dark clouds were around.
