This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Thank you very much :~)
Thanks:)
Actually he didn’t do as well as he has been. He kept wanting to go towards, and stop at the fence where Mack was standing. I kept having to correct him, to keep his head/nose down.
Yes, he has the new bit on, I’ll get pictures of it.
Becky
Miss Targets, I wrote you a long reply and forgot to hit print.....ugh.....
No my horse is not at Chagrin Valley Farms, a little too rich for my blood. Waylon is at Hidden Creek in Montville at a very nice facility. Indoor and outdoor arenas, trails and good barn buddies.
When I get to Aiken, my barn won’t be done, so I’ll have to board him until it’s finished. One of my neighbors down there boards her horse at a place that charges $750...can you imagine....Waylon would have to have a down bed for that kind of money and a manicure...lol...Needless to say I am not looking for that !!!
You’ll have to post pictures of your place as it’s being built and when it gets done. Moving to a new place would be so exciting! Have they actually started it yet?
Thanks. There were a few uncomfortable pauses but overall it went ok. Once I start talking I get passionate about what I do and she seemed impressed.
Believe it or not, the house is drywalled and we are supposed to be in late September. I gave my “retirement” notice yesterday for Sept.1st. Felt great.
I have my house on the market here and am getting a little nervous about the whole thing...I can’t afford two houses and the cabin. Say a prayer this one sells soon..then I’ll be able to sleep at night.
I’ll post some pictures when I go down in July, when we were there last I didn’t take any.

I am so sorry about the many posts......I’m having a hard time today....some won’t post and then this.
That should work for me but mine don’t pull away but bob their heads up. I could tie their heads I guess but I’ve found that life is easier just to lay my finger on the inner lower lid.
It’s a case of “Whatever Works”! Every critter’s different.
Are you flooding?
I’ve never in my life heard such continuous thunder as I did last night. It started around 10, and it is still thundering...with very little break between them. It’s the deep rolling across the sky kind, and it went on all night. I see on the radar you might be getting a lot too.
Becky
From what I saw on the radar this morning it looks like you both are getting washed away. I’m beginning to wonder if somebody put in a big glass wall or something at the Mississippi River because none of the rain seems to be able to make it past there. Our little inch of rain yesterday sure was a welcome change, but we’re back to being hot and dry again today and are supposed to be up near 100 by the first of next week. Man, we need a break!
Well I just about bet Bixby is flooding, it rained all night. The big creek is probably out of it’s banks again.
I’m sorry you haven’t gotten any. We are suppose to be in the low 90’s after today. It’s going to be very humid for a while. It was miserable yesterday.
But we do have AC now:). The guy got it hooked up last night. Finished about 11. It’s nice to be drinking coffee this morning and not breaking sweat:)
Becky
Man, I don’t see how you’ve stood it without AC for this long. I like to be able to see my breath when I get in the bed. I guess I’m a little spoiled. ;o)
Ok, here's my new bit you all wanted to see.
In case you've never seen a Mylar bit, that is not a roller in the center, it's a hinge cover that keeps the bit from pinching, it does not roll. I hate roller bits:) Anyway, with this bit you can truly work with one side without getting any action on the other, it's like a ball bearing inside. You can completely turn one side all the way around with out the other side moving at all. It's good to help pick up their shoulders in turns.
Becky
We had some T-storms yesterday evening. About 3/4" of rain. We needed the rain and it cooled the temps alot. High 70's predicted today. The 90's and humidity are miserable.
That is an interesting bit, Becky. So, the middle part does not move at all?
Interesting. So does the joint in the middle have a nutcracker action like a typical 3-piece snaffle bit, or does the mouth piece stay straight like an unjointed bit and just allow the cheeks to rotate around the axis?
Wow! $750 for board. That must be some facility with every amenity available.
