This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

LOL - that's my line. I have been really worrying and praying about you all. I've been through ice storms in NC but nothing like what you are getting. At least we are dry even though cold.

I watched it under protest tonight for the 1st time. It was interesting.
Not as good as Lost though.
It will be a few days before I can get that pic. My new camera only holds 6. The other card I have was the wrong one so I have to take it back.
I bought a larger card for my camera and the one I bought Bob. It was so frustrating not to be able to take more than a few pictures. I'm still looking forward to it though...mystical mare :)
Yeah. I have to go back and do that. I took my grandaughter and now she has to go with me every time. She got her shoes really muddy and her momma wasn't amused. I bought her some kicker boots today. Now she wants a hat. She doesn't want a horse caz she thinks SL is her's . She started screaming when I told SL I was going to sell her. "I loveeeeee SL" I've been told that I am to wait until she gets out of school tomorrow. So strange. I have to watch her closely around horses. No concerns. She's scared of dogs though.

Almost 6. I don't want her taking lessons at the stables though. I can show her how to ride but I think she would like competitions. I have no idea how that works though.
Only girk horses though. Poor Okie , who comes right up to the fence has "cooties" She is the first person I have seen that didn't uh and ah over him.
She'll make a good horsewoman, she sees past the color to the heart.

Good morning. We are now getting light snow....
LOL...I don't think this is ever going to end.
The wind is suppose to pick up today which is not a good thing. Will cause more power outages. So far here I don't see alot of broken trees/branches, just a few small ones. Hopefully we didn't get the amount of ice other areas got, and the wind won't be a factor...crossing my fingers.

It's in the 30's here and dropping .. steady rain .. sure to turn to ice and sleet. Ya'll pray for us .. We're not used to this and people become idiots ...

Praying for you guys also. Man, this is a horrible winter for everyone isn't it? So far we've been most fortunate, just extreme cold and not the snow and ice and wind that everyone else is getting.
Aw geeze... the wind will be hard on all the iced up trees.

Of course, I'd never say that we're getting it anywhere near as bad as you guys. We have the added 'unprepared' thing down here. People don't have the clothes, they don't know how to drive (or not drive) in this weather. They don't know how to prepare ahead for anything (as was apparent during hurricanes last year) .. So, it's mostly the 'idiot-factor' .. LOL. You guys put up with a certain amount of foul weather every year.
